Program Overview |
English is taught at two levels at the Colleges of Technology. First, the Foundation Program (FP) consists of three terms. Students are placed into one of four levels (Pre-elementary, Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced) according to their scores in a placement test. In the FP, students are taught writing, reading, listening and speaking and how to write a project. In addition to the language components, the FP students are given basic computer and math skills. All courses, excluding computer and math, are taught wholly by ELC lecturers. Second, there is the Post-Foundation Program which targets the students in their specializations. The Post-Foundation Program aims at enhancing students competency that was developed in the FP. It also aims at providing the students with new English skills as required by their specializations. These courses are also delivered by ELC lecturers. |
