Computer Services Section

The Computer Services Section under the direct supervision of the Head of ETC which is responsible for providing services related to IT Infrustructure in the College. CSS has two core teams: Networking Team and Hardware/Software Support Team. It plays a leading role in providing IT Support and Technical Services for both students and staff in the College. The services include Network Support, Hardware Support, Software Support and Technical Support and Technical Support while CSS Help Desk provide different support, and advice to staff and other users regarding information technology systems. This includes assisting staff to troubleshoot, interpret problems and provide solutions for their computer hardware and software systems.

CSS/ETC maintains 6 computer laboratories. 1-Free Access Lab. 1 Self Access Centre and College Library with approcimately 260 computers where students can use standard office suite application and discipline -specific softwares. These laboratories are at the Ground Floor and First Floor which are easily accesible for students and faculty. It is the task of the Computer Services Sectionto make sure that all laboratories and computer hardware required in the learning and maintained properly and ready for use at all times. Beside CSS Staff manages the computers of Academics and Administrative Staff in the College. CSS is also responsible for assisting the lectures in the day-to-day activities in the laboratories and workshops such as conducting the laboratory works and other practical classes and examinations.

Futhermore, it is the task of the CSS Staff Members to provide the advice and consultant of how to use computer facilities in these laboratories, classrooms and offices. CSS effectively conducts "Hardware and Network Training Programme" to OJT, EPT and General Trainees as well as Staff. Hardware Workshop, where the CSS Staff fix, configures, troubleshoots and test the computers, laptops and Wireless Configuration. It also acts as a learning workshop for the students who undergo training in PC Troubleshooting and Networking and provides technical support to the iTech Society.

CSS has afforded security measures using Kaspersky Administration Kit and Deep Freeze to avoid technical problems and virus attacks from the web or any other kind of circumstances that may infect any PCs. Kaspersky Administration Kit is a dynamic and flexible tool for centralized management of Kaspersky Lab Applications on a Local Area Network of the College. Faronics Deep Freeze helps to eliminate workstation damage and downtime by making computer configurations indestructible in the laboratories.

IbriCT's Network Infrastructure is administrated by CSS Network Team. The College Network Infrastructure is comprised of the campus-wired and wireless media used to support the transmission of information. The College Wireless Switches are placed in Server A and Server B. 30 Wireless Access Ports, 6 Wireless Access Points and 4 Omni- directional Wireless Antennas are covering the whole college Wireless Local Area Network . Here, WEP Key based wireless password protection scheme is in practice. So the enrolled students and staff can have access to the college network and the internet anywhere in the college campus.

IbriCT has solid messing system for internal communication infrastructure by using Exhange Server that is highly accessible and easy to manage. Increasing email is being augmented with other forms of electronics communication such as web portals and instant messaging to provide benefits to both end users and team. Email has become the primary communicastion tools and needs to be up to the task in the college. Exchange Server provides many new features and enhancements to improve reliability, manageability, and security. Outlook is a communication too being used at IbriCT which offers new and enhanced functionality that improves efficiency and makes it easier to collaborate with colleagues. This new functionality includes a completely redesigned user interface for easier mail reading and message management, HTTP access from Outlook, and a new local copy of mailbox using the new cached Exchange mode feature. Data travel faster between Outlook clients and Exchange Server, reducing the number of communication round-trip attempts and bytes over the network besides outlook help to work smarter in IbriCT. CSS Staff Members are enthusiastically carrying out to optimize the best services and better utilization of IT resources that improves the educational environment of Ibri College of Technology.
