| Moodle Training for the ELC Lecturers by: Mr. Edmund Evangelista & Ms. Rosalie Balmas Mr. Abdullah Al Shukeily, ETC Head of Department, conducted a training on Moodle last January 2, 2010 to all the lecturers of English Language Center (ELC) at the College Laboratory. Moodle is a Course Management System (CMS) designed using sound pedagogical principles, to help educators create effective online learning communities. During the training, he emphasized the concepts on E-Learning and Learning Management System (LMS) and the benefits of using Moodle that the students, lecturers and the college can derive. In the first part of the training, the lecturers made use of the Moodle and acted as a student to have an overview and acquire an experience on the use of the learning technology. When they became familiar with the whole setup, Mr. Abdullah required the ELC Lecturers to design their own course material and administer student activities such as but not limited to: uploading of course materials, quiz, assignment, chat, forum and result feedback. Mr. Abdullah conducts Moodle training in the college once every semester. This is has been his third time conducting the training. It is also good to note that the ELC Department is using this learning technology not just for e-learning purposes but also to conduct Placement Test, Level Exit Exam and Comprehensive Exam for New Intake Students.
