The Staff Development Committee (SDC) of the Business Studies Department organized a presenation on "Mediation and Moderation Analysis" on Thursday, 17th November 2022 from 10.00 p.m to 11.00 a.m at "A214B". The welcome address was given by Dr.Muhammed fasial. The presentation continued with Dr.Tamilselvan, Lecturer, UTAS-Ibri, the presenter started the session by highlighting the basic concepts about mediation and moderation analysis in research. He did an activity about “Assessing the mediating role of residents’ perceptions toward tourism development” for the faculty members to develop a conceptual framework using the given variables such as Independent and Dependent. The staff members were actively involved and completed the task given. All participants received noteworthy session and benefited to all. At the end of the session, some faculty members raised their concerns to the presenter for further clarification. A total of 13 faculty members attended the session. The Staff Development Committee (SDC) of the Business Studies Department organized a seminar on "Digital Presence in Research" on Thursday, 27th October 2022 from 12.00 p.m to 1.30 p.m. The welcome address was given by Mr. Mohammed Al Sakiti. Then, the speaker, Dr.Stephen, Assistant professor, Muscat college, started the session by highlighting why digital presence is important for academics. He also illustrated various ways to be an active researcher by using digital platforms in a wider way, including Google Scholar, ORCID, LinkedIn, etc. At the end of the seminar, some faculty members raised their concerns to the presenter for further clarification. A total of 21 faculty members attended the seminar. The vote of thanks was given by Dr Abdulrahman Al Ismaili, HOD of Business studies department.
The Alumni Committee of the Business Studies Department organized an online workshop on Tolah3 “From the Simplest Beginnings to the Most Successful Endings" on Thursday, 20th October 2022 from 9:30 to 10:30 am. The targeted audience were entrepreneurship students, alumni students, and current students. The workshop started at 09.30 am a welcoming address given by the alumni committee Coordinator, Dr Manjula Veerabhadrappa. Then, she invited the speaker, Ms Ammani Al Mamari, the owner of TOLAH3, to deliver her workshop. The speaker started the workshop by highlighting her success story and how she started her home-based business. She also shared her experience about doing a business, the challenges she has been through as well as her key achievements. She ended her workshop by sharing some key tips and skills for building a successful business. At the end of the workshop, Dr Surender, HoS of Accounting section, gave a vote of thanks to speaker.
The Staff Development Committee (SDC) of the Business Studies Department organized an awareness session on the "Operational Plan and Action Plan" on Tuesday, 4th October 2022 from 12.00 p.m to 1.00 p.m at the venue "A214A". The welcome address was given by Dr. Mohammed Younus, QAC coordinator of Business Studies Department. Then, Dr. Syeda Zubaida Hashmi, the presenter, started the session by highlighting UTAS-Ibri Vision, Mission, Goals and Graduate Attributes along with the approved SP and OP. All the committee coordinators were asked to align their action plans with the OP to achieve the university targets collectively. At the end of the session, some faculty members raised their concerns to the presenter for further clarification. A total of 24 faculty members attended the session. The vote of thanks was given by Dr Surendar, HoS, Accounting Section.
The Staff Development Committee (SDC) of the Business Studies Department organized a workshop on “Games for Students’ Engagement” on Thursday, 9th June 2022 from 11.00 a.m to 12.00 p.m at the Room No A214A. A welcome speech was given by Dr Vijay, and then the presenter, Ms. Safiya Saif Nasser Al Hamdi, HoS-HR, started the workshop by focusing on the basic platforms to be used for students engagement in the class like Alphabet Chain, Entrance and Exit Cards, Random Term and One-minute Paper. As a second important part of the presentation, she discussed about Baamboozle platform, how to create games quizand and how students can select the questions by themselves to answer and get points. These platforms created interest among faculty members and pave a way to apply it in classes. Overall, 40 faculty members from all departments attended the worksho. At the end, a vote of thanks was given by Dr.Vijay Padugiri and all the participants provided positive feedback.
The SDC & SRCC committees of the Business Studies Department organized a webinar on “Teaching Research Nexus” on Thursday, 2nd June 2022 from 10 to 11 am and was delivered by Dr Tamanna Dalwai, Deputy Director of Quality Assurance, Assistant Professor, Muscat College. The webinar started with a welcoming address by Dr Manjula Veerabhadrappa and Mr Mohammed Khamis Alsakiti introduced the resource person. Then, the speaker, Dr Tamanna Dalwai, started with a research quote. Further, she lucidly demonstrated real-time examples on research nexus as me, myself and you, and enlightened about seven dimensions of teaching research along with benefits for active staff. At the end, she addressed the participants’ questions relating to teaching research nexus. Overall, the presentation was very informative and thought provoking for the staff members to be involved in research. A vote of thanks was given by Dr Surender Vaddepalli.
The Staff Development Committee (SDC) of the Business Studies Department organized a workshop on "Psychological Wellbeing” on Thursday, 16th June 2022 from 10.00 a.m to 11.00 a.m at the VIP Room. The welcome address was given by Dr.Tamilselvan and Dr. Abdullah Al Mahrouqi, a Nursing faculty at Oman college of Health Sciences-Ibri, started the presentation by focusing on the basics to be followed to maintain the health physically and mentally. He continued the session with the objective of how to maintain a workplace balance by following various concepts and then he discussed about the positive and negative aspects of work wellbeing. The final part of the session was about the features and limitaitions of psychological balance with related to everyone detailed in a clear manner. There was a Q&A session at the end to clarify the participants’ doubts and enquiries. The College Dean, Dr. Hamdan Al Manthari, handed a certificate of appreciation to the speaker thanking him for his valuable insights. Overall, 30 faculty members from all departments attended the workshop.
The Staff Development Committee (SDC) of the Business Studies Department organized a presentation on "Whatsapp for Formal Communication" on Thursday, 19th May 2022 from 10.45 a.m to 11.30 a.m at the Room No A214A. The session staterd with a welcome address given by Dr. Sheik Mastan Vali and then the presenter, Dr.Vijay Padaguri, delivered the session. He focuse on different aspects, including the nature and uses of whatsapp in our everyday life, various techniques used to communicate to people and different types of formal words to be followed in whatsapp. After that, he conducted a quiz among faculty members as five groups and discussed the answers. There was a Q&A session at the end to clarify the doubts and enquries raised by the participants. A total number of 23 faculty members attended the presentation.
The Staff Development Committee (SDC) of the Business Studies Department organized a workshop titled "Understanding Derivatives with respect to Options" on Thursday, 26th May 2022 from 10.00 a.m to 10.45 a.m at the Room No A214A. The workshop staterd with a welcome speech by Dr. Sheik Mastan Vali, then the presenter, Dr. Mohammed Younus, delivered the workshop emphasizing derivatives market with options with reference to GCC market. He also focused on the greater insights of options and their types with the nature of trading. He provided practical examples with reference to underlying assets trading in overall market. At the end of the workshop, there was a Q&A session to clarify participants' doubts on the said topic. A totally of 18 faculty members attended the workshop. The vote of thanks was given by Dr. Surendar vedapall.
The Staff Development Committee (SDC) of the Business Studies Department organized a presentation on "Diet Exercises and Fitness Practices for Wellbeing" on Thursday, 19th May 2022 from 10.00 a.m to 10.45 a.m at the Room No A214A. The presentation started with a welcome address by Dr. Sheik Mastan Vali and then the presenter, Mr. Emthiyaz khan, delivered the session. He focused on different aspects, including the major symptoms of illness created by major five organs like heart, kidney, and liver in our body and how these are related to the stomachpain. He also provided some solutions to minimize them. In addition to that, the presenter showed and explained the fitness exercises required in our everyday life to maintain and keep strong. It was a great insight provided as per the current requirement for everyone and 23 faculty members attended this presentation. At the end, some participants raised their enquiries on the said topic and the presenter clarified all enquiries.
