The Staff Research and Consultancy Committee of the Business Studies Department organized a webinar titled “Conducting Systematic Literature Review” on Thursday, 24th February 2022, from 10 to 11:30 AM. The webinar was delivered by Dr Zuraina Ali, Assosciate Professor at the Department of Modern Languages, Universiti Malaysia Pahang. Dr Laly, an accounting lecturer, welcomed and introduced the speaker to the audience. The speaker explained different aspects related to the webinar topic, including basic searching techniques, searching process, the use of wild card in searching and article filtering. The speaker has also demonstrated how to use Scopus and Taylor & Francis database to conduct the literature review. The webinar as highly interactive. At the end of the webinar, Dr Surendar delivered a vote of thanks to the speaker.

The Staff Research and Consultancy Committee of the Business Studies Department organized a webinar titled “How to Conduct an Action Research” on Thursday, 17th February 2022 from 10 to 11:30 AM. The webinar was delivered by Dr Bahzad Zamani from the University of Mazandaran Azad, Iran. Dr Abdulrahman Al Ismaili, the head of the department, welcomed the speaker and introduced him to the participants. The speaker focused on different aspects related to the webinar topic, including the use of action research concept, overview of the action research and addressing the challenges faced by teachers. He also discussed the criteria of selecting an idea, writing a reflective memo, translating an idea into research questions, carrying out the literature review and drafting the report. The webinar was highly interactive. At the end of the webinar, Dr Surender Vaddepalli delivered the vote of thanks to the speaker.

The Staff Development Committee of the Business Studies Department organized a workshop titled “PLS-SEM-Model Development: Assessment & Reporting” on Thursday, 10th February 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the VIP Room. At the beginning of the workshop, Dr Muhammed Faisal, an HR lecturer, gave a welcoming address, and then introduced the speaker, Dr Tamilselvan, an accounting lecturer, to the audience. In his presentation, the speaker focused on how to develop an SEM model with different variables. He also gave new insights into the measurement and structural models. There was a group discussion facilitated by the speaker to create and develop the model based on a given worksheet. At the end of the workshop, some participants raised their enquiries to the speaker on the discussed topic. A total of 22 faculty members attended the workshop.

The Staff Development Committee of the Business Studies Department conducted a webinar titled “Using Computational Methods” on Thursday, 10th February 2022 from 1 to 2 PM via MS Teams. The webinar was delivered by Prof. Soumya Ray, a Distinguished Professor at Taiwan University. The webinar started by a welcoming address by Dr Manjula, then Dr Tamilselvan introduced the speaker to the audience. In his presentation, Prof. Soumya focused on the modern computation coding and relevant software and programming applicable to business research. He also emphasized the coding to be used in developing structural equation models with multiple constructs and indicators. At the end of the webinar, the participants raised some enquiries related to the discussed topic to the speaker.

The Staff Development Committee of the Business Studies Department organized an online session titled “Unlearn Online Learning” on Thursday, 3rd February 2022 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. The session staterd with a welcoming address by Ms. Mitchelle Mendoza. Then, the speaker, Ms. Rozan Kuryyim, a graduate teaching assistant at the ELI, University of Jeddah, delivered the session emphasizing learning through online mediums. Furthermore, she discussed about things to unlearn about virtual teaching, setting the overall classroom mood, how to enliven the virtual classes. She also gave an insight of online tools to be used to enhance the teaching and larning process. At the end of the session, participants raised some doubts to the speaker concerning the topic of the ssession. Overall, the session was very beneficial and a total of 323 faculty members attended the session.

The Business Studies Department organized an online workshop titled “How to Build Your Self-confidence?” on Thursday, 2nd December 2021, from 10 to 11 am. The main aim of the workshop was to educate students on the techniques and practices that they can use to enhance their level of confidence. The speaker conducted a self-test activity among students. She also highlighted some success stories for people who enhanced their self-confidence. Then, she requested students to share their personal strengths and weaknesses with real-life examples and guided them to turn their weaknesses into opportunities. At the end of the workshop, students raised their enquiries and got them clarified by the speaker.

The Staff Development Committee of the Business Studies Department organized an online workshop titled “Online Teaching Pedagogy for Enhanced Learner Engagement” on Thursday, 2 December 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The workshop was delivered by Ms Puteri Sofia Amirnuddin, a Senior Law lecturer at Taylor’s University, Malaysia. She started the workshop by interacting with the participants and discussing the challenges of online teaching. Then, she discussed the skills that students need to grab job opportunities and enhance their learning experiences. She also emphasized the simulation of students learning journey and the role of speed networking to engage students in online teaching and learning based on her own experience. Moreover, she highlighted how to stimulate students’ social connectedness by using the gamification technique. At the end of the workshop, there was a Q&A session to clarify participants’ doubts and enquiries. A total of 36 faculty members attended the workshop.

The Business Studies Department, represented by Mr Mohammed Al-Sakiti, HRM Lecturer, participated in a comprehensive training program organized by the Directorate General of Education in Al Dhahira Governorate. The main aim of the training program was to enhance school teachers’ knowledge and skills in different relevant areas, such as entrepreneurship, innovation, entrepreneurship ecosystem, business plan, feasibility studies, etc. The program was designed also to train teachers on how to teach the course “Entrepreneurship” to 10th-grade students. Mr Mohammed delivered two online workshops on 16th and 23rd November 2021 highlighting the role of innovation in enhancing entrepreneurship activities. More than 60 teachers from different local schools. The participants expressed their satisfaction and requested the speaker to deliver more sessions in the future.

The Student Research Committee of Business Studies Department, UTAS, Ibri conducted an online workshop on “Primary Data Collection and Analysis” on 18th November 2021 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm for senior and graduation project students. The purpose of the workshop was to give training to the project students on primary data collection and analysis by using different software. Mr. Asif Mahmood, an accounting lecturer, Business Studies Department, handled the session and demonstrated the students how to collect primary data for their research studies. He also gave real life examples in order to explain the techniques in a proper way. At the end of the workshop, the presenter clarified the doubts raised by students and answered their questions. Around 14 students participated in the workshop.

The Help Center of the Business Studies Department conducted an online workshop on “Self-motivation and Study Life” on 28th October 2021 from 11 am to 12 pm targeting the university students. Ms Maimona Al Wahaibi, an author in human development, delivered the workshop and shared her own experience with students. The main purpose of the workshop was to train students to apply different techniques for self-motivation and personal development while studying at the university. More than 50 students attended the workshop. At the end of the workshop, the speaker answered some of the questions raised by students.
