Business Society of Department of Business Studies organized NATURA for students to “Be Creative and Reuse it” the recycle Items.  The program was inaugurated in lecturer theatre at 9.30am by HOD Mr Omar Al Balushi and HOS Ms Safiya Al Hamdi. Students Noor Al Gharibi and Maitha Saeed Alisaee briefed the audience about the program. 

Under the guidance of Mr Ali Al Gafri, Head Student Activities Department, a short skit (dramatic humorous sketch) was performed by three students Mazin Ahmed AlZidjali, Mohammed Zayid Al Rujaibi and Omar Bati Alsukaiti.  Audience enjoyed it with great applause and encouraged all performers. After the Sketch HOD and HOS along with audience visited multipurpose hall for NATURA Exhibition where students exhibited their talent by preparing different items using recyclable items. There wer around 30 exhibits and the prizes in the exhibition were won by the following students:

1st prize by Manal Mohammed Masoud Al-Jassasi & Nouf Said Salim Al-Mamari

2nd Prize by Alia Said Ali Al-yaqoobi

3nd Prize by Abir Abdullah Almamari, Anfal Saif Aljabri, Ruiqya Awadh Alkalbani (Students of Entrepreneurship Supervisor Mr Syed Akram)

A ‘Best out of Waste’ workshop was conducted in room 016B from 12 to 2pm. Student Aliya was the organizer and 15 students participated in it. The Prize was won by Manal Mohammed Masoud Al-Jassasi & Nouf Said Salim Al-Mamari.  

At 2 pm closing ceremony was held at Lecturer Theatre by Student Mohammed Amir. Assistant Dean Student Affairs Ms. Nawal Al Sawafi and HOD Mr. Omar Al Balushi distributed prizes to winners and participation certificate to all participants including Business Society Students Organizers and Staff Members.

Under the patronage of Dr Muna Al Jardani, Undersecretary of Ministry of Manpower for Technical Education and Vocational Training, Oman Academy for SME organised a graduation ceremony for honouring 48 faculty members who successfully completed the Certified Entrepreneurship Educator (CEE) programme. The ceremony was organised on Wednesday, 12th of June 2019, at Levatio Hotel, Muscat. IbriCT was represented by two of its members; Mr Mohammed Al-Sakiti, head of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit, and Mr Manikandan Sathyamoorthy, accounting lecturer at the Business Studies Department.

The Risk Management Committee of the Department of Business Studies conducted an awareness Program on Risk Management for different levels of students of Business Studies on 7th March and 10th March 2019. The program objective was to create awareness among the students on Risk Management and collect the risks from the students. 

Mr Enthiyaz khan, the coordinator of the Risk Management Committee, gave a presentation in this regard. In his presentation, he gave clear understanding of the meaning of Risk Management, the objectives of Risk Management at IBRICT. 

While explaining Risk identification, he explained different types of risks such as Strategic, Operational, Financial, Complain and Reputation risks along with their definitions and examples. He also collected the risks from the students . It was an interactive session, which enhanced the knowledge of audiences on various aspects of Risks and its Management.

Business Society of Department of Business Studies organized Mock Interview for Business Studies students to expose them to real time interview feel. For the Mock Interview 14 students registered from Advanced and Bachelor Level from Accounting and HR Specialization

The program was conducted in 016A from 12 to 2pm. Business Department HOD Mr Omar Al Balushi and HOS Ms Safiya Al Hamdi welcomed   Mr Ismail Saif Salem Al Shmali, Director of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Talal Hamood Mohammed Al Balushi, Head of Section, Administration and Finance, College of Health Science as External Panel for Interview and Dr Quadir Mohiuddin Mohammed Lecturer, Department of Business Studies as Internal Panel member. 

All registered students were present on time with their CV hardcopy and attended the Mock Interview. Each students had 5 minutes of interview in which the external and internal panel assessed their performance in Assessment form.  The program ended at 2 pm with the Token of   appreciation to External and Internal panel Members by HOD Mr Omar Al Balushi. The students and panel members were happy about their experience.

In order to maintain Staff Health record and to suggest measures to sustain good health, the Health and Safety coordinator of Business Department Mr. Enthiyaz khan took up the Health Checkup – Blood Pressure monitoring activity and recorded Blood Pressure of all the staff members of Business Studies Department using automatic Digital Blood Pressure measuring instrument on 2nd May, 2019. The body mass index has also been recorded and staff were given health tips for maintaining good health. All the staff took active participation and made the event successful.

New Student Induction Program -- Business Studies Department was conducted on February 12, 2019 at 11:40 in Room 16 A & B. As a part of the activity Mr. Prasad P.M., represented the learning Resource Committee. He gave a presentation on E-Learning platform and how it is useful to the students in their learning process at IbriCT. 

In his presentation, Mr. Prasad also gave an insight to the students on ProQuest an e-source of learning and its usefulness. He explained then how it simplifies workflows so that students can use time effectively. He explained the students on how to register their ID on ProQuest and the subsequent steps of using it. 

The session was quite an interactive one where the students came up with their queries and the presenters ably answered them.

On 25th and 26th of March 2019, a program on Road Safety was conducted for the students of Department of Business Studies in different class rooms by the Health and Safety Committee in collaboration with the Risk Management Committee- Department of Business Studies, Ibri College of Technology.

The objective of the program was to create more awareness on road safety among the students of the Business Department. In this context Mr. Enthiyaz Khan  gave a presentation on road traffic accidents in Oman, types of roads in Oman,  causes for accidents, forces acting on a car, role of speed in accidents, differences between 2WD and 4WD vehicles, types of traffic accidents and collisions. 

He closed his session by explaining safety precautions that drivers and passengers should observe while on the move. The speaker urged the students to be careful while driving and keep away from distractions like mobile phones while on the move. The session was very interesting and enriched the knowledge of students on road safety.

The Business Studies Department organised a get-together event on Wednesday from 12:30 pm to 13:30 pm, at the VIP room, to celebrate the completion of semester II and get ready for the summer semester. The event was attended by the Dean, Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Head of Business Studies Department, and faculty members. Mr Mohammed Al-Sakiti, HRM lecturer, gave a greeting speech to the attendees. Then, business faculty members provided a gift to Mr Mohammed Al-Sakiti wishing him a very happy married life. The event was ended by having a buffet with a variety of dishes.

The Business Studies Department representative, Mr Mohammed Al Sakiti, presented a research paper titled “Building a Sustainable Entrepreneurship Ecosystem: A Reflection of the Pivotal Domains in Oman Context” in the International Conference of Banking, Finance and Business, at the College of Banking and Financial Studies, Muscat. The conference was organised for two days, from 24th April 2019 to 25th April 2019. 

The conference was attended by many researchers and academicians from different countries, including UAE, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Malaysia, UK, Germany, France and India. On the first day of the conference, three keynote speeches were presented by H.E. Tahir Al Amri, Executive President of the Central Bank of Oman, Prof. Lim Kian Guam, Professor of Finance at the Singapore Management University, and Prof. Zahir Irani, Professor and Executive Dean, Faculty of Management and Law at the University of Bradford, UK. The keynote speeches were followed by parallel track sessions in three different research themes namely; Banking, Finance and Business.

On the second day of the conference, three keynote speeches were presented by Dr Ronald Bradfield, Director of the Strathclyde Business School, UAE campus, Dr Said Al Saqri, Chairperson of Oman Economic Association, and Prof. M. Thenmozhi, Director of the National Institute of Securities Markets in Mumbai, India. Then, there were research paper presentations on the key themes of the conference. 

At the end of the conference, Dr Khalfan Al Barwani, Chairman of CBFS Board of Directors, and Dr Nasser Al-Mawali, Dean of CBFS, distributed certificates of appreciation to all paper presenters.
