Call for Undergraduate Research Grant (URG) 

The Undergraduate Research Grants (URG) are awarded to undergraduate students currently enrolled in academic programs in higher education institutions in Oman, to conduct research projects, either on campus or at other research institutes in the Sultanate, with the option of being part of the student’s academic course or graduation projects.

Students are encouraged to prepare research proposals and submit for funding under the URG program.

Maximum Budget: OMR 1,500 / Project

Period: Max of 1 year

Limit on Resources: No caps for categories

Student Eligibility: Student should have completed at least one semester with 2.3 CGPA

Submission Process:

  1. Faculty mentors and students are required to go through the attached TRC URG guidelines carefully before preparing the proposal. The proposals must adequately address all criteria elements in order to avoid disqualification from being considered for URG.
  2. Faculty Mentor shall upload the proposal in the Moodle link given below: Proposal Submission for URG 2020

  3. The research team should present their proposals before the review committee on the scheduled date. After approval, the students shall upload their proposals in the TRC-RIMS.

Schedule:

Proposal submission deadline (through Moodle): 15 Jan 2020

Internal Review: 28 Jan 2020 to 11 Feb 2020

Final Submission to TRC RIMS: 05 March 2020

Note:

  • Students and Faculty Mentors should create their profiles in TRC well in advance before the last date of final submission.
  • Final proposal uploaded to RIMS has to be submitted to RCC both in word and pdf formats.

Call for Research Grant (RG) 

The Research Grant (RG) is a national research program adopted by The Research Council (TRC) to allocate small-to-medium size research grants to short-term and mid-term research projects within the fields of sciences and humanities. Faculty members are encouraged to prepare research proposals and submit for funding under the RG program. Period: Max of 2 years.

Submission Process:

  1. Faculty members are required to go through the attached TRC RG guidelines carefully (for research sectors, eligibility criteria and evaluation criteria) before preparing the proposal. The proposals must adequately address all criteria elements in order to avoid disqualification from being considered for RG.
  2. Investigators shall upload the proposal in the Moodle link given below: Proposal Submission for RG 2020

  3. The research teams should present their proposals before review committee on the scheduled date. After approval, the teams shall upload their proposals in the TRC-RIMS.

Schedule:

Research Funding Programme (RFP)

IbriCT encourages faculty members and students to meet their research targets through the internal Research Funding Programme from AY 2017-18. A Call for Proposals under RFP is to be published in the month of March of every academic year. Proposals will be reviewed by the RCC in the month of April and recommended to the College Council for approval. The College Council approves the proposals of the research teams.

The research teams will carry out the research for a period of one year and report progress  every six months to the RCC. On completion of one year, the research team will submit a completion report to the RCC. This process will repeat every academic year.
